The State of Hawaii requires all businesses to obtain a general business license issued by the state, regardless of business size or circumstance. When receiving the business license, you are simultaneously registering for the General Excise Tax License, this both registers you for tax and the license. There are also other professions that require specialized licensing in addition to the General Excise Tax License. Licenses can be applied for online, by mail or in person. Expect to have your business particulars available before applying with the BB-1 form to obtain your business license. The Hawaii Department of Health authorizes marriage licenses. Wedding ceremonies must be conducted by appointed civil servants or certain religious leaders. You, the bride and groom, must appear together to apply for the license and must present your individual information. Along with your personal information, you will both need to supply valid photo identification issued by the DMV or a passport. Applicants that are 18 years or younger also require their birth certificates at the application. The required fee is $60.
