First and foremost, it is critical to understand that there are different types of business licenses and permits such as: state occupational licenses, local occupational licenses, food permits, state beverage or tobacco permits and certificates of occupancy. Before wedding, both the bride and groom must apply with the Clerk of the Court in any parish in the state. You may apply at any Clerk of the Court. To successfully do so, both of you must have current DMV issued photo identification or passports, complete the marriage license fully and pay the corresponding fee. After the marriage license is granted, there is a 72 hour wait period before the marriage can be solemnized. Be cautious that the marriage license is only valid for 30 days after issuance and if it expires, you must reapply and pay the fee again.
