Obtaining a marriage license should be at the top of your wedding “to-do list,” as not having a marriage license would not permit you as a couple to be lawfully wed in the eyes of the government. This can be gotten by going to the local County Clerk’s Office where either you or your fiancé resides. Even though this is a requirement, you don’t have to be married at the application office and can have the ceremony anywhere in the state. Only one of you needs apply in person, but both have to remit proof of age and DMV issued photo identification or a passport. Furthermore, the fee is mandated to be received by the office before the marriage license can be issued. The fee is approximately $20-$30.
