This 3.5 million-person work industry is employed mostly by technology, healthcare, and of course, the state’s strong education sector.  Harvard and MIT, two of the best-known schools in the world, drive the state’s economy.

With one of the world’s strongest medical schools it’s no surprise that some of the world’s leading teaching hospitals are located in Boston. This includes Massachusetts General Hospital and Brigham & Women’s Hospital.  A whopping 21% of Massachusetts jobs lie within the education/health service industry.  Science and technology are also strong industries in Massachusetts along with some leading financial service companies.  As some of the oldest cities in the U.S., Boston and Salem have strong tourism sectors as well.

Other heavy industries in Massachusetts include utilities, transportation, professional business services and trade.  This small state is lively with people and business. It’s a great place to work if you’ve got the proper education. Getting a business degree is perfect for any of the major industries in Massachusetts.

Getting a Business Degree in Massachusetts

Let’s face it, this tiny state has a GIANT reputation for higher education.  With two of the most well-respected schools in all of the world, Massachusetts has no shortage of knowledge.  But knowledge doesn’t necessarily mean opportunity for everyone.  MIT and Harvard are two of the most difficult schools to get in to.  With the lowest acceptance rate in the nation, plans for an education at Harvard should come with a plan B.  There are lots of great options outside of the elite Ivy League education system.  And starting with the goal of a business degree is a great place to start.

The University of Massachusetts’ Isenberg School of Management offers online programs in addition to their traditional study program.  Also offered at University of Massachusetts is a well-known Online MBA in Healthcare Administration.  The University of Phoenix also offers a wide selection of graduate and undergrad programs, including an online MBA. University of Phoenix is located in Westborough and Boston.  In addition to their wide variety of course work, University of Phoenix is known for having a flexible environment for students.  IT’s a great opportunity for working individuals to go back to school and get that degree that they so need for the industry in Massachusetts.
