Aside from the auto industry, areas of growth include food production, aerospace, information technology, and mining. Alternative energy, life science, and defense are also industries on the rise in Michigan. The state is rich with research and development, especially in the area of auto-making.  20 Fortune 500 Companies are Michigan residents.  Included on this list are General Motors in Detroit, Ford Motor in Dearborn, Kellogg, Ally Financial, and Dow Chemical.  These companies have great work opportunities for individuals with business degrees, especially in the areas of project management, research, accounting, marketing, and sales.
