In the last few decades, Utah has become a surprising frontrunner in business.  Forbes recently ranked Utah as one of the best places to do business.  The state currently has a steady employment rate and careers in business are flourishing.  Some of the big industries for the state’s 1.3 million people include manufacturing, retail, and finance.  It’s a great place to get a job if you’re looking into climbing the corporate ladder.  There are a handful of big names here including Adobe, CHG Healthcare Services, Goldman Sachs, and Intercontinental Hotels Group.  Other industries of strengths here are petroleum production, defense, life sciences, outdoor products, recreation, software development, and information technology.

Get a Business Degree in Utah

The Mormon culture of this state reflects largely in its emphasis on education.  But going to a college in Utah doesn’t mean going to a Latter Day Saint University.   While Brigham Young University (a school owned and operated by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints) is located in Utah, there are dozens of other schools that offer excellent business degree programs in Utah. University of Utah and Utah State University are two other excellent schools with great business schools.

Marriott School of Business at BYU is ranked with high marks by Bloomberg BusinessWeek; #2 in the West and #17 in the Nation.  93%  of BYU business school students had job offers within 3 months of graduation.  Business centers here include Global Management, Economic Self-reliance, Technology, Entrepreneurship, and Business Career.  Business courses for undergraduates include business management, accounting, ethics, return on investment, international business, information systems, strategy, finance, and marketing.  Undergraduate business degrees offered at BYU include BS in management with a minor in management or strategy; BS in Accountancy; BS in Information Systems; BS in Recreation Management; BS in Finance.  Graduate programs include an MBA, Master of Public Administration, Executive Master of Public Administration, Master of Accountancy, Master of Information System Management, and a Master of Science in Youth and Family Recreation.  BYU Online Business degree programs are available through BYU Idaho.  Business Programs include bachelor degrees in: Applied Management, Business Management, Entrepreneurial Management, Healthcare Administration, and Computer Information Technology.  Other programs offered through BYU’s online school include:

The University of Utah has business program on the bachelor, master, and doctorate level, as well as business certificate programs.  Undergraduate degree programs include entrepreneurship, business administration, information systems, marketing, management, operations management, finance, accounting, as well as minors in business and entrepreneurship. 

Utah State University has business degree programs in Management, management information systems, and accountancy.  A number of online courses are available at Utah State in their FLEX program.  Online business bachelor degree programs include economics, agribusiness.  Online master degree programs in the field of business include agricultural systems technology and career and technical education.
