Where do we apply for a marriage license in Chicago, Illinois?

You can apply for a marriage license at any of the six locations of the Cook County Clerk’s office. The office location in downtown Chicago is located at the Daley Center on 50 W. Washington Street. The office can be found in the East Concourse Lower Level. You can call (312) 603-7790 if you wish to speak to someone in the office. What do we have to do to qualify for a marriage license in Chicago, Illinois?

You qualify for a marriage license in Chicago if you are single, and at least 18 years of age. You cannot be close blood relatives unless you are over 50 years of age. You will be asked to present an accepted form of I.D. at the Cook County Clerk’s office. If either of you has been divorced in the last six months, a certified copy of the divorce decree is required.

In Cook County, you can request certified copies of your marriage certificate online, by phone, by mail, in person, or at a local Currency Exchange. The first certified copy of the marriage certificate costs $15.00 and each additional copy of the same record costs $4.00.
